I reached there at 4:43pm and they refused to serve me. By saying that they already have people in a queue to entertain until 5pm. If they want to treat like this way then they should close their door at 4 or 4:30pm. Why they have mentioned working hrs until 5pm.

Licence renewal at Sydenham was a breeze. I was in and out in less than 15 minutes including filling out paperwork. No queue at 10:15am. Fabulous friendly and chatty staff at the counter. Couldn't have been more pleased. Thank you :-)

2 things here. The staff work really hard here today get through customers as possible. the queues are very long as is the wait time. This morning again which is why I am writing my review. It's is no fault of the staff at this branch that the wait time is at least 15 minutes every time. Today this was 20 minutes and I walked out as I had another appointment. I can see how customers get frustrated, impatient and maybe angry sometimes. Please don't blame the staff... it's the Tight asses at AA HEAD OFFICE that should be implementing more service counters and perhaps a sign that informs everybody to expect a 15-20 minute wait. so frustrating when you have a short lunch break and still can't get things done... please AA take action and turn this situation around into a positive one...

After reading the reviews, I had low expectations. But credit where credit is due. Turned up at 830a, no-one in the queue, technically had the wrong paperwork, but they accepted it. Deb was friendly, made good conversation, asked about my trip, and I was out of there in 5 minutes. EFT-POS not working, but overall, couldn't fault Deb. Great service.

I visited this center because I had to renew my expiring drivers licence. I arrived there just before their opening time of 8.30 am and waited in my car. About 5 customers were already cuing in front of the entrance door. At 8.30 am the door was opened and they were let in. I got out of my car but when trying to enter the center, the door was locked again. A few minutes later the door was unlocked by a staff member and I was let in. After I greeted her with "good morning", she just replied unfriendly: "The door was locked because it wasn't 8.30 yet." I went to the driver license counter where I presented the completed form for the renewal of my driver licence. After I was asked whether I was an AA member and then had to explain why I'm not an AA member, I had to pay the fee. Then a photo was taken and I had to look through a grimy old eye test machine and was asked to read out a certain line of letters. The blocks of letters appeared to me all offset against each other so that the lines were all mixed up and I wasn't able to read a line correctly. Therefore I failed the eye test and was asked to have my eyes checked by an optometrist. The next day I made an appointment with an optometrist and passed the test without any problems. I even could read out 3 eye chart lines below what was required to pass the test. I have better than 20/20 vision. The optometrist wasn't surprised that I failed the eye test at the AA Centre. I'm 1.88 m tall and I had to bend down to be able to see through the AA eye test machine, since the machine is fixed and doesn't seem to be height- or angle adjustable, I wasn't able to see through the machine at the correct angle and consequently the chart appeared distorted to me. A few days later I went to this AA Centre again to present my eye test certificate for the completion of my application. I had to wait for about 20 minutes even though there was only 1 customer in front of me and 4 other staff members were not serving any customers. Apart from the fact that I had to waste money and time to have an unnecessary eye test with an optometrist done due to the inadequate test equipment of the AA Centre, the personnel of this centre seem unfriendly and inefficient. The staff members are all dressed in dull black clothing, resembling a funeral business and the premises and equipment are old, run down and unappealing. I won't go there again and don't recommend it to others.
