  A really great place. The staff is great and very helpfull. Heated pool, good WiFi, right next door a great bar for drinking and eating. The only 5$ Morning breakfast, is really good and you feel right at home from the first minute.

  Place is sweet. Just like any other hostel, base doesn't allow alcohol but the LAVA BAR beside this hostel is a wild time. Good food, good drinks. Would recommend both base and the LAVA BAR.

  I never got a chance to stay here, but their cancellation policy sucks balls!!! I booked as a last resort and cancelled my booking within the hour of doing so as i had found other accomodation with family. I went in personally to tell them the situation and they charged me 1 nights stay $110.00!!! They sited the fact that it was at their discretion to do so and referred me to the small print policy (which i booked via my phone and couldn't really read) that they were entitled to do so. I basically had my money STOLEN from this outfit!!. I could understand if I had booked say, 2 weeks in advance and then at the last minute cancelled as that would have meant they had held a room for my wife and I at the expense of other customers. But my booking and cancellation all happened within the hour!! Now I will never know how good or bad this place is but if this is the way they do business I NEVER want to stay there!. Be very weary people of booking online and giving your credit card details to this lot because if for any reason you change your mind about staying they will steal your money from off your credit card. I've written asking for a please explain and they still haven't been in touch MINUS 5 stars for me sorry! (i have to give 1 just to post this)

  Bedbugs! We found Bedbugs in our room! Fortunately the staff at the reception was friendly and washed and dried all clothes from me and my room members. As well we got a new room. We also got a breakfast voucher for the next day. But I highly recommend you to go to the YHA in Rotorua. The kitchen, the bathroom facilities, the lounges etc. is better there.

  Clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Good facilities. Has a kitchen with a fridge. Free WiFi at reception. In a good location. It was good and functional. Nothing more nothing less. Good place for one or two nights.
