  I was introduced to Burgerfuel after a long day of hitch hiking and not having eaten for 8 hours. Safe to say that upon sinking my teeth into the Bastard Burger I was mightily impressed. "But Gregg, you hadn't eaten anything in hours, surely anything would have tasted great at that point?" Right you are Mr/Mrs Cynic. So I went back again. I went back so many times that I ended having almost every single burger on their menu. And you know what I found? The best damn burgers in New Zealand and, quite frankly, the best burgers I have eaten ever. Their thickshakes are true to their name, Thick. All three flavours will not disappoint. Their kumara fries are little sticks of golden Nirvana in every bite(when you can get them because they are so damn delicious people rioted over having them thus causing a worldwide shortage) and I never let the aioli cup go unlicked. Now that I am back in Canada I have fever dreams about how good these burgers were, and I am so far away I cannot fill my hunger for these fabulous meat creations. Also, they made a Vegan burger taste great. That in itself deserves a frickin Nobel Prize or at the very least some heartfelt hugs.

  Ordered a Basic Backfire with a side of Reece but they gave me a side of Bran instead. Otherwise would've been 5 star.

  Service standards have slipped in recent months. Your server on Friday afternoon spoke barely above a whisper, mumbled his greeting which sounded like he didnt greet customers at all, Never thanked customers when they where given their order (the other guy however did so credit to him). This was very poor service and rude but i guess you expect this sort of behavior in the Hospitality industry. I Will not be back at the Upper Hutt branch again.

  Usually a tasty burger. The ads are a genuine representation of the burger. Interesting decor and usually friendly staff. The problem is the consistency of the food. Sometimes it is brilliant other times it is really less than ideal.

  One of the better fast food options in upper hutt. Organic and free range foods is a big bonus for me.
