Very dissapointed with Daniels And Brian Daniels owner operater. I took a sterling silver charm bracelet in to have the safety chain reattached as it had broken. Simple repair. They txt me to say it was ready. When I collected it the cost was $180....I was stunned! The receipt said only that they had repaired safety chain and amount owing was $180. I thought about it and went back the nxt day. I took my receipt and questioned Brian Daniels himself as to why it was so excessive. He looked at receipt and said I had other work done to which I replied no I didn't and receipt clearly shows what was done. He got on his computer and said I had 9 charms soldered on. I told him I did no such thing and braclett was only brought in to get safety chain fixed. He then stood there and lied to my face and said that someone had phoned me and spoke to me about it and I had agreed to have the work done which was a complete lie. I couldn't believe it!! He should of just said that's how much the repair cost instead of making some story up to justify it. I was stunned as I thought he would have been far more professional. ..Its not the money that bothered me most it was the fact that someone who portrays himself to be a reprable jeweller and dunedin business man would fabricate a complete story to cover either a mistake or a total rip off. His loss. .I would never go there and wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

Disappointed with the service recieved, had a watch serviced and repaired recently, we live out of town and requested it be couriered to us specifically by any courier other than Courier Post / NZ Post. We have had bad experiences in the past so try desparately to avoid this company for that reason. However our express wishes were ignored and guess who handled the delivery. Accordingly when delivery was attempted we were out and a card was left advising us to collect the parcel the next day from the local post shop, however it was still early in the day so we went to the post shop to collect our parcel only to be told they didnt have it. Alarm bells started ringing for me as i have been in this position before and it didnt end well for me, last time the parcel walked never to be found. I asked where exactly the parcel was and was told they didnt know but it would turn up tomorrow. My wife whom the parcel belonged to was very anxious that night and next day expecting another bad experience like in the past. we had the trouble of making another trip to the post shop to collect the parcel which was there this time but still no explanation where it spent the previous night. we are very disappointed to be put through the experience especially when we had made stipulations and paid for them. We requested the process to lay a complaint and were givern a 0800 number to call only to be requested to leave a message and someone will call back (yeah right still waiting) is there no accountability anymore can these companies just do what they like????

I put an engagement ring aside that I was looking at purchasing. I called them later in the week to make sure they could still have it on hold as I thought it was the one and on the phone they told me I must have the wrong store as they had nothing for me so I genuinely thought I had mucked up what store I went too. I travelled through again the next weekend and went in to see them so I knew the store was correct as soon as I stepped inside, the staff looked and said - opps sorry, we have no record of you putting a ring aside. I ending up finding a new engagement ring from another Jewellers. Very disappointing and no remorse at all from the staff - considering I made toll calls to ALL the other jewellers on George St thinking I may have wrote down the wrong store and hadn't! Not very good results from them at all.

I went to replace the strap for my long lived G-Shock watch. I chose Daniels Gemtime as they were on Casios website. I went in on 30/06/2010 and was told that they would order the strap as didn't have the correct size in, provided my details and waited for the call. 3 weeks later I decided to see what was happening and was told that it had not been done yet as it had been sitting in the draw and that they would reorder the strap and ring me when it was completed. 3 weeks later I went in again and after a lot of searching it was found and had been completed, I paid for it and it cost me twice the amount it usually is, for a strap replacement that is done in 2 hours. I will not return here, with this quality of service.
