They have this amazingly huge Grand theater with fantastic sound... And the worst seats you could possibly have. Some of the rows are so narrow that once you are seated, you cannot get up for the length of the movie. They angle forwards and are ridiculously painful to sit in. Go to Reading instead.

Great movie experience. Amazing sound. Also allows alcohol to be taken in if purchased from the bar. Nothing like sitting back with a beer / wine watching the big screen.

The venue is fantastic. The story of the upgrade for the Lord of the Rings premiere inspired us to go and watch a film. The decor is stunning and takes you to another classy era. The seats are comfortable and the sound is something. A bit loud but still impressive. What ruined it all was the service. Not enough staff on. Having to wait ages to get tickets and then something to eat and drink, missed some of the movie. The staff were unhelpful. Only seven folks watching the film. I wonder why?

HQ Wellington Film Festival. One big theatre and two small. Comfortable seats. Bars upstairs and downstairs. Good snacks and light meals. Plenty of restaurants too within walking distance. Street parking generally available within 10 minutes walk.

Saw Blade Runner 2046 here on opening night here and it was an amazing experience. The screen and sound are excellent. The chairs are comfortable without any of that lay-flat bed nonsense that the big chains seem to be going for (I am 191cm tall and the reclining seats are very uncomfortable for me). There was a good crowd and a great atmosphere. The cinema itself is gorgeous- I’m sad I didn’t get the chance for a drink in the bar or to hang around. The box office is an actual wooden box that two attendants stand behindto serve you. A brilliant experience from start to end and one that I will repeat each time I am in wellington.
