  Excellent choice for an inexpensive place to sleep, booked double bed ensuite for around 45 dollars a night, everything you need at a low price and very good location. Some reviews complain of noise, had no problems with noise at all plus don't even have to leave the building for a choice of 2 decent bars! 1 min from lake front and loads of excellent food/drink spots, would definitely book again 👌

  Unfortunately, this was probably the worst night sleep I’ve ever experienced in a hostel. No free ear plugs offered, poor condition of rooms (single glazed windows so room was cold) and not clean. Also the hotel is looking tired. On top of that, extremely noisy - the whole floor was vibrating and well into the night (far beyond 2am). More could be done to mitigate the loud noise levels - double glazing, underlay and thick carpets. Further sealing the floor boards better. Even at $75 a night this felt expensive and I have no intention of returning.

  Really nice place to stay! The staff is really nice, funny and helpful and the atmosphere is great. There is a huge terrace so you can eat and chill outside. The kitchen is big enough and you have everything you need. The dorms were confortable even though it would have been nice to be able to open the window. The toilet and shower were in the room. I was glad to spend a few nights there. One of my best hostel in NZ.

  I would give here only 4 starts because of 5% charge for credit cards (sorry, it should be 2,5 up to 3%, no one nowhere in NZ asked me for 5%, as this its not 5%, and You should not asked for that much) I give 5 starts ONLY because of Julia who worked on reception. She was so sweet and so kind, and very very helpful when I need to book a tour she helped me straight away+ she remembered my name, and as well her service towards all backpackers was so confident and truly nice. I hope that owners pay her good money, as she really deserves it for her job, and as she is very clever person. Thank You Julia💙

  Really nice place. Kitchen is clean and fairly large. Lots of space to chill and hang out. There is a huge patio. Rooms are nice; stayed in a 6 bed dorm it had it's own bathroom room with shower. There are no lockers in the rooms even though there is room for them. There is only 1 outlet so that kinda a problem.when there is 6 people. This hostel is over 2 bars so between the hours of 10pm -2am you will hear and feel the music. They do give you ear plugs but if you can feel the music they kinda useless. The WiFi is good you get 2g but I think you can just get another code that what I understood but could be wrong.
