Unable to use the online service to apply the IRD for individual resident. Called to the hotline to ask about the option. Submitted the documents as was given. Waited for 10 working days and get a refuse letter said that unable to process. They waste my time. I sent an email to the ChCh office to ask for more detail but they havent responded yet, nearly 1 week I think.

    1. have been asking the IRD for several years why their Christchurch address is not in the phone book nor on the general website. 2. I phoned last Friday but I have to wait until tomorrow, Tuesday, to speak to someone. Why don't they have more people on the phones at peak time? They could invite some retired people back to earn a bit of money during the cold winter months. 3. I don't like not being sent a form each year with a booklet. Some returns cannot be done online. 4. They don't let me know by email when they have sent certain letters by so called secure mail. How am I expected to know I have received an answer? Government departments used to give SERVICE but this seems lacking now in many ways.

Typical I suppose....the IRD call line can not take your call....etc, and hung up. Not even a 'please wait'! I ended up being on hold for an hour!! Spoke with someone that didn't have authority to proceed and went on hold again!! And they wonder why people don't like them. READ THIS!

Such a disappointing visit. I went there in January to apply for tax return as my work visa had already finished. A lady there told me that there is no point for me to apply then because it will take them like 10 weeks to process it, but I will be eligible to apply in April and get it back quickly. I would save my time as I would do quite a bit of paperwork. BUT as it turns out now. I will get my tax return only in July. That's when my NZ bankwill account will be already closed. In conclusion she made me lose money because she was lazy to do paperwork for me. There were no other people waiting then in the line. P.S. Previously I had a great experience with IR, but it was in Napier.
