  Tracks are not clear everywhere, signs are not everywhere. The paths are designed for cyclists, so the difficulty of the route and its duration is not always clear

  The walkways around Matairangi / Mt. Victoria are well maintained, with good signage, and mostly easy to walk. There are some single file paths and tracks shared with mountain bikers that can be a bit more demanding, but if you stick to the main paths you can do them in jandals. The best thing about it is that on a weekday you can be up there completely on your own and not meet anybody for an hour (if that's your kind of thing), and you're still just 10 minutes away from the CBD. Perfect place for forest bathing, with lots of regenerating native bush and birds such as Tūī, Kākā and Kererū.
