A must-visit place on a trip to Wellington. I had to visit twice as the first time I only went for a quick look what's inside which took me around 2 hours. If you take time to read pretty much everything it would take anyone at least half a day to tour the building. Here you can see informative exhibits that mostly involve around New Zealand's rich culture. Some of them are interactive too. Also has a cafe if you feel the eat to have a quick bite.

An amazing tourist stop in the heart of Wellington. We saw a fantastic tribute to the ANZACS of WW1, as well as other great displays. Tho we didn't have a full day to properly see it all, I believe it is a must see attraction in Wellington. Entry is free, but a donation to the venue is greatly appreciated I'm sure

Great experience. It is a fantastic and huge museum, completely free. You can easily spend half your days walking around and learning about NZ history, fauna and much more. We paid for the tour which consists on a one hour presentation of all the sections of the museum. They will walk your around and explain what's in each part. I believe it's worth the time and the money. Totally recommended

This free museum is a must do when you are in Wellington. There is something to suit everyone. It's just a fabulous building in its self. It has two cafes....the ground floor cafe is great choice for families. Don't miss the education rooms on each level the hands on experience will keep the little ones amused.

Amazing displays. Helpful and plentiful guides at hand. The Cententary of ANZAC is a MUST see - but be warned: you will come away emotionally drained. I understand this display has recently won a global award as the best museum exhibit in the world. And, I can readily believe it. All free entry: no exhibition charge required. Well done Te Papa. An easy walk from centre of town, close to the waterfront.
