I had the most wonderful stay at Te Pania. The highlight for me was lovely Sam the night receptionist who was kind enough to take my last minute booking at a very late hour! He welcomed me when I arrived after midnight and made me feel very comfortable and happy! He even asked whether I had eaten when I arrived! The room was beautiful and very comfortable with the most incredible shower and huge amazing bed but the experience wouldn’t have been half as pleasant had Sam not been working; thank you Sam for everything! He is truly an asset to the hotel!

Overall we found the hotel to be very nice and the staff helpful. We booked the 'dog' room as we were travelling with our dog Louie. The room was clean and tidy and the facilities generally satisfactory. One point that the hotel should consider is that it is very difficult to find places to eat with a dog. Therefore it might be a nice idea if the hotel had had chairs and tables set out on the terrace (perhaps with a patio heater given that it was around 12 degrees!) so that we could have had breakfast, lunch or an evening meal at the hotel. A missed opportunity perhaps?

Our Family stayed for two nights. Cost $410 for two adults and two children which we found reasonable. PROS: Views, Air con & Black out curtains CONS: Upon arrival I had to try convince the receptionist that we did indeed prepay our accomodation prior to arrival. After a long and tiresome drive to Napier and two restless children, this was the last thing I wanted to deal with. & then the elevator we were in got stuck for an hour. This proved quite traumatic for my little ones as it was hot and stuffy and obviously frightening. The emergency button put us through to a call centre that was based in Australia who then advised us that we were top priority, but the technician was also out of town. Fortunately, the Fire brigade came to the rescue and was able to get us out and managed to pull us out of a gap. The children were hysterical. On a side note, Staff gave us complimentary breakfast the next day and apologised profusely and assured us it had never happened before but it really dampened our weekend with our Children which was something we had planned for months in advance. I sure do hope the elevator malfunction is fixed because I’d hate for it to happen again.

Quality place to stay in Napier with a nice view of the beach & pacific ocean literally across the road, especially on the upper floors. Comfy beds, clean room etc. Can't really find anything at fault. Only stayed for a night but recommended to anyone if passing through Napier.

Another friendly welcome from all the staff on reception ..... The weather was unusually gloomy but the staff soon changed the mood with the familiar effervescence I have often experienced at Te Pania. My room ( as all have ) has seen an improvement to the furnishings which are now more vibrant and colourful and this noticeably has improved the ambience to my stay. I enjoyed in house dining for my two night stay and was very pleased as the quality of the food was again a very high standard. The menu was wide an varied although some of my personal favourites had been removed this didn’t spoil anything. Looking forward to my next stay already. Gavin and Sue deserve a special mention for consistently good all round service. Thank You
