  A well cut and nice little walk. You start at the top of St Mary street, which is off Tinakori road in Thorndon. Quite close to the Botanical gardens. There's a map and a small amount of stairs to start off with but a steady incline the rest of the way. There are about three intersections on the way up and they are all signposted so getting lost is pretty hard to do. There is a seat about 10 minutes into the walk with a clear view. The last 10 minutes or so are in Bush and once you reach the lookout you'll be in the open again. The views are pretty good. The bush around the viewing platform could be lower so you can see more of the city. But, this is a 20 to 30 minute walk so getting up higher would give you better views. There's some information about the forestry on a sign and another map at the top too. From the lookout, there are more options as to where to walk next on the map. Overall, pretty good for a morning walk.
