Great facilities and heaps of activities to do, ie fishing, swimming, kayaking or just relaxing

First time ever going to whananaki. The beaches are beautiful. The campgrounds however are a big dissapointment. Only the mens bathroom was available. Someone was hosing their caravan toilet container right outside of the mens bathroom and it was so disgusting. The kitchen was filthy and scary to even think about cooking in. There is a pool which was uncovered but fully fenced, however there are gaps in the fence which are big enough for my 2yo to get through. And believe me she was half way through before i got her. The whole place itself needs MAJOR work done. I think if it was run by the right people and cared for this place could truely thrive. A family friend just bought a cabin bach there so my accomodation itself was clean. I was lucky enough that the cabin has an oven so i didnt need to cook in the communal kitchen. Very very sad place. Everything just feels and is filthy in the communal areas. Sadly i would not recommend this place to families or anyone. More suitable for someone who has last resort accomodation needs near homelessness or no standards in hygiene. Im sorry but this is my honest opinion

I fell in love with Whananaki! Just a beautiful place, beautiful scenery and beautiful people! This cabin was lovely and warm and had everything I needed and nothing I didn't...enjoyed the sunrise and sunset and my daughter loved walking back and forward over the longest footbridge in the southern hemisphere!couldn't ask for more

Took a group of scouts for a learning camp. Managers were happy to help us in any way they could. Offered us a variety of sites to suit our needs best. Going out of their way to get the pool up and running for our group. Showers were hot with great pressure and economical. Kitchen was clean and roomy. Undercover area was a godsend for the rainy weather we struck. The scouts ABSOLUTELY loved it, and the many natural attractions around the area. Whananaki....LOVE IT HERE
