Clean and delicious. A range of sushi available as well as small-sized bento, donburi, and udon. Portion size can be small (but it’s perfect for small-portion eaters like me :) ) but you can add sushi or sashimi to fill you up. Very good service.

It's so hard to get simple and elegant right but Yoshi Press Hall has excelled on all levels. I had my first visit to their new Press Hall premises today and was instantly wowed by the beautiful fit out (such a blessed contrast to anything else in Wellington), stunning service from the owners, and impeccable food. We were delighted to discover that in addition to their super high quality sushi, they also make a range of food to order...and that's where we decided to venture. The Takoyaki (octopus balls) and their rendition of albacore tuna Poke were simply sublime and taking Japanese cuisine in Wellington to another a level. Gyoza seems to be the new black in Wellington at the moment so I was initially a bit sceptical about trying Yoshi's but am so glad I did - they were heads and shoulders above anyone else's I've tried yet. My other half had the chicken bento and proclaimed it a complete winner. The food was presented in a way that made us both feel pretty special - and it would have been easy to think with an experience like that I'd be parting with $150 plus for lunch but at a shade over $50 for a big lunch for two, I'd call it exceptional value . I just cant wait to get back there and try the rest of their menu!

The food is uncomplicated yet with that special Yoshi touch that customers of their two sushi shops love: exceptional care and attention to authentic flavour. We had their udon noodle bowls for lunch and they were delicious. The broth is light and fresh, the udon was cooked perfectly, and my chicken had Yoshi's wonderful wafer-thin tempura crust. My husband had the Vegie option and loved it. The bowl size may look small but was in fact just the right amount. We're going back tomorrow for more! They also do karaage chicken (free-range), tofu (karaage & agedashi), sashimi, bento bowls of teriyaki chicken/salmon/beef or veg tempura. Also poke bowls (salmon & tuna) with rice, salad and nori.
