::As a female I found it impossible to find a mechanic in Gisborne or anywhere for that matter that would give me an honest diagnosis and a fair price, it seem most mechanics see us lady's coming and we are instantly ripped off. This all changed when I found Alan Berry, I first gave him a go when I noticed he was running free basic classes on car maintenance for woman, I thought wow someone who is trying to help educate not rip off this is worth a look! I was very pleasantly surprised, and I have not looked back since I have found his team to be efficient, cheap and super friendly I have even had a car returned to me free of charge as the fault was so minor, try and find another mechanic in town that will do that! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Alan to everyone, he is a Fantastic, Fair mechanic

::We went to this service center to check the cooling system, cause we had experienced overheating issues. Mr. Berry discussed symptoms with us and promised to find the reason. "Diagnostic" work took him over hour and half and only found three way hose water leaking under pressure test. With funeral face he scared us by saying that it was only going to get worse and forced us to have it repaired immediately. In addition he said that he could only continue diagnosis after leakage repair for about four hundred dollars (we knew its bullshit). To sum it up, we paid 70 dollars just for 5-minute pressure test with no reasonable causes of our major problem - overheating. Unsatisfied, we went to another service, where they found blown head gasket in 10 minutes and for few dollars. Obviously not as difficult to find main reason of overheating as Mr. Berry told us. After that we wanted Mr. Berry to refund money for his meaningless diagnosis. When speaking about that, his character showed up as his behaviour turned into rude and impolite. Our feeling is that Alan Berry only wants to rip you off so we would never recommend anyone to have a car repaired there. Sadly, we think Mr. Berry is both bad mechanic and bad person. This review was written 3 weeks after the incident with no emotions. We can provide copy of Berry's report and bill.
