  Room is warm and comfy. Staff is nice. But it's not really a good choice if you wanna have a good sleep. Too much noise!!

  We had a really nice stay at Base Wanaka for 2 nights in a double ensuite room. Excellent value, a really comfortable bed and clean room made for an enjoyable and peaceful stay. Location is perfect, just a short walk to the lake and to some great bars and restaurants in town. I have stayed in Base hostels plenty of times before and Base Wanaka has been one of the best!

  Location fine. Room very small. Noisy fan in bathroom. I don't think there were clean sheets on my bed. I woke up itching which was a worry.

  Pros: good location, central to Wanaka. Supernarket right next door. Bar is part of the hostel, good array of drinks and a free drink for each guest. Cons: Poorly staffed reception, messy and small kitchen, particularly considering the size of the hostel, flimy pillows, very evidently geared toward coach trip customers and aiming to sell as many trips, tours and experiences to you as possible. No parking available, paid public car park nearby or residential streets. Costs: WiFi $4/24 hours or $12/7 days. Laundry $4, detergent $2. Tea/coffee $1.50

  Of course, Base is loud. Haven't seen that mentioned, but if you didn't know already, beware. This Base had clean but small rooms, and a pretty small kitchen. Definitely not big enough for the amount of people. Staff were nice and location was good, but there are many better options available
