These people are so sweet! They came to NZ as refugees and put their entire life savings into this restaurant to bring us beautiful Ethiopian food that tastes so pure and natural yet delicious it's like it's straight from the Earth, hot, nourishing and nurturing. Was walking past this restaurant one night and saw they had a $20 Buffet available so went in and it turned out that was for the other night, and since they seemed to kind, decided to rub that part of their sign out for them. They were very grateful, and in a very friendly way, they invited me to try some of their gorgeous Ethiopian food for free. It was a mixture of comforting Kale, lentils, spicy coriander sauce, carrot and other delights on a special type of bread that seemed very natural and was easy to break off and eat with my hands. Eating this way felt very traditional and the connection with the food felt deeper. Even the lighting was nice and dim and it felt like the connection with the food was heightened. The people are so warm here, they offer you chocolate at the start and even offered me chocolate at the end of my meal. This Ethiopian family seem happy to welcome you and don't seem to be seen as an outsider from another culture. There is an extensive list of vegan options which are nice additions to the menu, and the young women are very vibrant and happy to help out both their mothers and the guests (that seems like a better description of how they treat you than customers). Really can't wait to bring friends and family here in the future, so they can experience something extraordinary they have never had before. Am very curious about trying the dishes on the menu and really sad they aren't open right now!! The woman who does the cooking is warm and trusting and the young women are exuberant and very generous in their gratitude for your visit. Once you have been once it's likely to become a favourite place to bring your favourite people.

A fantastic taste experience!! Food came out quickly even though they were crazy busy. Very friendly and helpful service and as these guys are still new to the Wellington food scene I will enjoy returning here and seeing how they grow

Three things were great about this restaurant: 1. The incredibly flavoured food 2. The passionate and lovely staff 3. The exceptional value!

I've been to Blue Nile a few times now and the food is really great. It caters to all sorts of different tastes and dietary requirements making it a good choice for a special occasion and to make things even better the ladies who run the restaurant are really lovely. Its the kind of place I can take my mum or go for a birthday dinner with friends. Will definitely be back! Looking forward to when they have a liquor licence too - will probably become a regular as opposed to a sometimes food.

Great food and friendly service. Took a while at lunch for the food to be cooked but if you're after something new, it's completely different from anything you've tasted! Good range of curries both meat and vegan. Wicked samosa range. Deffinitly worth a visit. Very filling.
