  I honestly have no idea why there's so many bad reviews about this place. I called up with my rapid rez number and had a car booked for pickup in an hour. I did a good 500kms in it driving up to coromandel and hot waters beach. No issues with the car, it was in good condition and incredibly clean. When i returned it I'd left a bit of sand in the foot wells along with a lot of bug splatter. I wasn't charged a cleaning fee, older lady behind the counter was a little grumpy but they were really busy. Young girl for pickup was nothing short of delightful. The price I was quoted is the price I paid, It was a smooth transaction.

  The car was OK. The customer service is atrocious. They don't respond to emails, aren't helpful on the phone, and generally deplorable. Claimed slight damage to the car, which they are perfectly willing to charge for, but will not provide any documentation for me to be able to claim on my insurance. I would recommend avoiding.

  Very helpful staff that made renting a car a piece of cake, even if we had forgotten to get our drivers licenses translated before we came to pick it up

  Terrible counter staff and service. They are literally old and slow and leave a queue of customers even though some are there to simply return a car. Also they drive on the footpath due to design of their garage entry/exit.

  Our hotel was 3 kms from the Budget car rental office on Beach Road in Auckland. The hotel recommended that the car we rented could be picked up by Budget after our stay in Auckland. The pickup fee is $219. I thought there would be a fee but this is outrageous. It pays to check.
