  Applies to 40 & 42 Esk Street: Two-storey, rendered brick building in an Edwardian Venetian Gothic influenced style, constructed c.1914 for Macalister Bros, barristers and solicitors (original architect unidentified). With later alterations by ER Wilson and Allan C Ford. Mirrored by 42 Esk Street. Note, building behind frontage rebuilt. In good condition. Significance: High architectural and streetscape values for the quality of its interesting and more unusual Venetian Gothic design, and part of a group of notable Victorian/Edwardian commercial frontages along Esk Street
