::When renting a car in Australia or New Zealand you seem go have to be very, very careful not to be scammed in paying for preexisiting or non-existing damage. Having learned from a previous experience, I requested staff at this location to inspect the vehicle and provide some form of proof of return. The lady onsite refused and said they did not do that. So even when returning your vehicle during business hours, you are still at their mercy. You don't get any proof you handed over the keys or what the vehicle condition was like. And unfortunately, Hertz out in this part of the world has shown to abuse that situation. Just three years ago, the Australian branch (which also runs the NZ Hertz) had a major court ruling against them for charging customers for non existing or preexisiting damage. Just recently, I had exactly this happen to myself in Australia. It seems Hertz have not learned from that court ruling at all. So is it that unreasonable for a customer to expect Hertz to inspect the vehicle on return and provide you with some paper proof of that? I don't think so and this is how it works in the rest of the world. So I did video the entire return process, but then got the Hertz employee telling me that filming is illegal. I told her that yes, I did film the return process, both the state of the car, the refusal to inspect and the handing over of the keys, for my own documentation and as expected possible evidence in case of a charge from them. Nothing illegal about that. And if Hertz don't want customers to document their own evidence, they should just follow established return procedures and there would be no need for that.

::Just follow the signs to car drop off. Park in Hertz marked space, pop keys into box at Hertz desk and you are ready to check in.

::Dropping the car I rented in NZ was easier than foreseen. At the ferryterminal of bluebridge in Wellington I could leave the car and keys of my rented Hertz car. However Hertz had send me to the interislander departure terminal 30 minuten walking distance from Bluebridge. Leaving a message after office hours is nearly impossible. The central number you can dial is of no help. They lack real customer care. Last time I booked Hertz.
