  The ambience and interiors made one feel very special. We had the five course degustation menu - was good but not exceptional. Service was very attentive and gracious.

  For the special occasion or just feel like spoiling yourself this is the place to go. When you consider what you get for your money it is not expensive but you get so much more. The ambience service and food beautiful.

  One of the best! My fiancé and I have had the enjoyment of eating at some of the best restaurants and this restaurant is by far one of The best restaurants we have eaten at. Sure it’s not a cheap restaurant but it’s well worth it. We have eaten here twice now and have been impressed both times. I was a little bit sad my 1st selection for entree was unavailable, However caviar is hard to come by and has to be served fresh. Both entree’s and mains were cooked to perfection and we love the breads before meals and the little dish in between meals is a nice little touch. Overall we both left feeling satisfied once again and will be returning in the future.

  We really had a lot of pleasure having a diner at the hippopotamus. It's really easy to find and few minutes away from the Wellington town centre. Easy to park around and a taxi station is few meters away. We easily found the location with the two hippopotamus in front off. The restaurant is located in levels. The view on the Wellington bay is great, and it's well insulated (there was a concert just in front of the restaurant and we didn't ear anything). The food was really excellent and with a large choices. Plates were not full but we were enough after one starter and one main course. Someone help us to choose the appropriate (and good) glass of wine with our plates. Really good choices of wine, including some French and Italian ones. The bread is home made. During 90min, we came back in France in a stared restaurant. It was really a pleasure. For sure, we'll come back.

  Arrived 2.15pm. 15 minutes late for eating from an awesome menu but stayed and had a bar snack-Ravioli cooked beautifully and was perfect for lunch and a Scottish whisky recommended from the very knowledgable lovely lady from the bar. It was the nicest I have ever had and she knew her job. Highly recommend either the bar menu or the lunch menu we did not have but read and wished for another day. The food is exceptional and would be on the must go places. As is the service, comfort and a great Wellington memory. Deserve more than 5 stars.
