  What a complex Cathedral church. Concerts here are among the best church music events in Auckland but aren't widely advertised in city promotion material. The mix of old and new architecture is somewhat odd like an unplanned marriage. The newly built Selwyn chapel has a gold leaf ceiling that makes it an attractive function centre. The new Cathedral organ, substantially funded by Auckland ratepayers, is now considered the finest in NZ. It's impressive and declamatory. The stained glass is the most ambitious 20th century glass art in any Auckland building but much compromised by the low roof on each side of the nave. The Cathedral would not give access to St Mary's when I visited. Why? Is this because St Mary's is a much more important building than the 20th century structure placed next to it after a hugely controversial shift from its original location across the street. We waited to get entry. Will the Cathedral know it's cool to provide access to Auckland's pre eminent Gothic timber building?

  Caught a taxi to attend 5 pm Evensong on 15/4/2017 as advertised on the website and signage ---only to find a group of worshippers gathered around a closed and darkened cathedral ---Mighty slack and most unimpressive from a cathedral church . Let's hope that the Parish churches have a better administration. I'm sure that the Pentecostal churches with hundreds attending!! -Lift your game Cathedral!.

  современное строение и дружественные церковные традиции. прекрасное звучание наибольшего в Новой Зеландии органа, отличная акустика и приятные голоса завораживают во время церковных богослужений. очень приятно было познакомиться и с местными прихожанами
