While the gardens are undergoing some lively renovations that are already coming to fruition, some of Lower Hutt’s seedier side is far to apparent. Clean crisp cut lawns are matched with big trees and a canal that’s being repaired to enough the flock of ducks have a long term habitat. Make a quick trip to the Avery to meet some very colourful chaps. Avoid the gardens in the late evening and night though, a fair bit of drug peddling is evident from the early evening onwards.

The jewel in Lower Hutt's crown. The perfect place to visit whether you want to do some causal skateboarding, a spot of bird watching or take a first date. The guy from the garden shop once described them as adequate municipal gardens - could there be a finer endorsement?

Lovely place, great picnic area. Part of garden under redevelopment, look forward to seeing new water feature and walkway.

It's looking so much better now that the council has given it make over. The skate park is great because it provides an activity for today's youth.
