::We booked the Stewart Island Experience to take us on tour to Ulva Island and they did not let us down the small ferry is modern, well equipped and you can get a drink on board. Our guide Ann for the island tour kept us informed about the local habitat as we sped across the water to the Island. She did the same on our guided tour of Ulva. It was a wonderful experience although the weather could have been better. Thanks to all of the staff who made this trip rememerabal.

::We went Kiwi Spotting over at the Neck after sunset. Very special. We watched a male kiwi foraging for bugs along the seashore for half an hour before it waddled off back into the bush. We also got to see a male kiwi in the bush raise its beak and head skyward letting rip with some long kiwi calls. Something I'll never forget. A very special night provided by a brilliant knowledgeable group of people from Kiwi Experience.

::Going to Stewart Island was one of the highlights of our NZ tour, and you have a few ways to get there, one is hire a charter flight and it can be costly, two you could swim, which I wouldn't suggest and then the more viable way is to go by Ferry which if weather permitting does two trips daily, the have car park facilities if you going for a couple of days so no worries there. The staff a friendly and welcoming and during the trip coffee is freely available but not the alcohol

::A very rough crossing but not the fault of the skipper who negotiated the waves well. One hour crossing. They took us five minutes from cast off as our sailing was cancelled so bonus! Thanks! Tea and coffee are complimentary. Not that you'd want it as the ride us stomach churning lol.
