  Great food when it finally arrives. But seriously guys you need to sort your staff out on days like the Jazz festival when you should expect more custom. It’s not rocket science surely? Over an hour just to get a drink?

  A real tale of two stories. Initial service was attrocious, but improved eventually and the food was great. We just wanted to sit in the sun, have a couple of beers and listen to the jazz. But we were refused service at the bar and then table service took literally (not figuratively) an hour to come to us! Eventually we were told we had to order at the front desk and by the time the first round was done, things were starting to look up again...

  Great sashimi, and food in general. Very friendly and helpful staff. Only downside is the noise level when sitting close to the kitchen, it makes it hard to have a conversation across the table.

  No hospitality. We were after dinner for 2 couples. Did not feel welcome at all. The waitress was nice, but the owner made us move tables after 2min to the corner in front of the bathrooms with a lame excuse. Very rude. Permanent draft. Once and for sure not again! I just expect more of Fine-Dining at 30NZ$ per main.

  Oh my word... great food, good location and a warm embracing atmosphere that had us smiling all night. All the wait staff were cheerful and attentive, breaking out into an effusive and welcoming Japanese greeting as each new group entered the restaurant. We shared one main and 3 entrees between 3 of us girls. The dumplings were amazing but the plates were all equally delicious ..we had tofu, chicken and prawn skewers, pork n prawn dumplings, deep fried shrimp and a spicy chicken main. Our drinks came in glasses matching the beverage with the Wild One cider and the Japanese beer in perfectly chilled glasses. Thanks Takara for a wonderful, affordable evening!
