  Simple motel with an excellent location. Easy to find off a main road in Matamata. About 20 min drive to Hobbiton. 5 min drive to city center. Staff is very nice. Beds are OK. Excellent value.

  What a local gem. The owner was so lovely, and upon realizing we were in town to visit Hobbiton she personally drove us into Matamata and arranged for the bus to take us to the tour. Clean rooms and very large! We could hear the birds chirping as we got ready for the evening. Would definitely stay here again!

  The room and service absolutely can't be beat. Very quiet, clean, modern and comfortable. The owner is amazing. She took my sister and I all over, even out of her way. She also helped us with our Hobbiton reservations. Plus she helped us try to find a precious pair of earrings my sister lost. Such a caring and fun lady. I HIGHLY recommend the Tower Motel.
