  I have been out to see Bill at W.T. Audio twice now. He is a genuinely friendly and helpful gentleman who provides great service. The store is packed with a huge range of vintage equipment, most of which you will not find on TradeMe or other sites. Bill is 70 years old and therefore does not sell online but that isn't the best way to buy vintage audio equipment anyway. Bill is very helpful and will set up and test the equipment in-store for you to listen to. If you are out of town, give him a call and he will be able to walk you through his stock and give genuine descriptions as to quality and sound. The store has been around for 28 years which is a testament to the good business principles that he is well known for locally. I was surprised to read one review stating that his equipment is overpriced. This is as far from my experiences that you can get. I bought a beautiful pair of Mission M73 speakers for an amazing price and will be going back regularly. If you look at vintage audio amps as "old stuff" and expect to pick a decent unit up for $20, then you will be disappointed wherever you go. Buying vintage audio online (particularly from overseas) is a gamble in and of itself. You never know what condition the equipment is in or whether the sound signature matches your individual preferences. Buying from overseas incurs huge shipping costs and the shipping process can damage the equipment if it is dropped or manhandled. Also, be aware that different countries use different plugs and voltages. In NZ we use 230/240V but other places such as the U.S. use 110V. If you plug that into a NZ outlet it will blow! A UK plug can easily be remedied by a plug adapter. If you are looking for any quality audio equipment (And a lot of vintage gear is better quality than modern receivers), then I highly recommend you give Bill a call or pop into his store.

  Tons of used equipment but definitively overpriced. You can get better deals ordering from ebay and shipping all the way from the UK. The owner doesn't really know what he is talking about from a technical standpoint, I heard him telling another customer all sorts of ridiculous things that are not true.
