  In town for business and needed a central self contained room. Good price and returned the following week under similar circumstances. Close to town and covered all I required. Cheers

  I stayed in a private room at the hostel for 2 nights. The staff was helpful and polite. The rooms and common areas were clean. The facilities in the hostel - wifi, computers, kitchen etc were very useful. I felt that the rooms were very small - I could barely open both my luggage in there together. The free breakfast was appreciated but in terms of what was on offer, was quite basic. Maybe some fruits or cheese could be a welcome addition.

  The kitchen is well equipped. But the bed is not comfortable. The ceiling fan in the toilet is out of order. The hair drying is very very very weak. Finally I need to sleep with my wet hair.

  My experience at Backpackers overall was satisfactory. I'm happy with my stay. The room was very clean and tidy when I arrived. My room came with a bathroom as expected. But no Windows. I had no problems with this. I have seen other similar reviews regarding this, but this is not made obvious within the rooms description. My suggestion is to make this more obvious - when people select a room, state whether or not it has Windows as this might influence decisions. Apart from this, the place itself is quite comfortable. I felt safe.

  My room on the ground floor was hot and had no window that could open. The bed was in poor condition. The springs on the mattress on my bed are loose and wobbly. (I removed the mattress and slept on the base alone). The small ceiling fans grids have not been cleaned in a long time and were halfway blocked. The fan over the toilet was inoperative and the other one was so noisy it kept me awake all night for the two nights I slept there. I was forced to leave my door open and draw cooler air into my room with the standing fan (which was wobbly and in poor condition). The television controls could not change the volume on the TV and to change channels was a real mission. The kitchen utensils on the ground floor were limited and inadequate. It would only cater for one to two families. The freezer part of the fridge/freezer was very very clogged up with ice and is in dire need of regular defrosting. The microwave oven is situated in a poor position below the preparing area and is ergonomically unsuitable. It could be placed where the kettle is currently situated and the kettle and beverages could be moved to the corner between the wash up basins. A place and rack should be put in place for items left by leaving guests which could be marked as "Free for use" which could be used by new or other customers. The amenities were grossly inadequate for the amount of rooms on the ground floor. (Instructions may help other customers to place items back in the correct place.) (It would help if a floor towel is provided to each room)
