::Pros - Lovely car, friendly person who served us, also location pick up and drop off is convenient Cons - We paid for the car using airpoints but we would have to pay for taxes, fees and extra for the carseat and snowchains. This was fine. They offered me excess reduction and roadside assistance for $39. I thought this was a one off, they did not say the amount was per day AND that roadside assistance was $50 extra. When the final amount came through I thought the amount they were putting on my card was a credit hold for insurance purposes that would be refunded. I mentioned this and was not corrected. Everything else was lovely and if they had explained the fees in full I would have rated the experience much higher. I feel that they were made to upsell insurance and aimed to be deceptive about it.

::Terrible customer service. When our flight to Queenstown was cancelled we called to tell them we couldn’t pick up our car as scheduled. They told us we would have to cancel our reservation and make a new one at a higher rate, charging us more money for less time with the vehicle. Thanks for kicking us when we were down Avis. We cancelled all together and booked a car through a different company. Nice job Avis! Way to keep your customers happy! We are happy to support your competitors though! This all happened on our honeymoon by the way. Also when I spoke to a supervisor on the phone he pretended not to hear me and hung up on me.

::Quick easy transaction at counter, car was RAV 4 Toyota, drove well and was good on fuel, needed a windscreen clean with credit card to remove the ice and we were in our way
