  The only reason this wasn’t a 1 is because the staff were not outrightly rude. Coffee is crafted ok enough - but the taste lets it down. The coffee n walnut slice had dried out and had that fridge taste about it. It really was not nice. The girl behind the counter was ok - but definitely not friendly, and was fairly disinterested. Won’t be back. :(

  Despite having a 2.1 star rating we thought we would give this cafe a go. The cafe was full of customers and there appeared to be only one person behind the counter serving. Even though he was rushing around trying to do the jobs of 3 people, he still found time to serve us with a smile. we ordered two scones and two Long Blacks. The scones arrived in about 6 minutes, nice and warm, however the coffees arrived about 15 minutes after that so our food was no longer warm. The coffee was very flat and bitter. It appeared to have been prepared incorrectly which meant it left an acidic taste in your mouth. Sorry Cheeky Sparrow, but perhaps extra staff and a barista course wouldn't go amiss.

  The food and coffee is ok, average, but not disappointing. But service! What with the grumpiness? Not the first time, mind you, but every time! My husband and I refer to it as a grumpy cafe now. We went there today though, thinking that surely the Christmas merriment must have sipped through, but - no. Makes us feel like unwanted guests there, like distant elderly country relations, poor and not very bright. Really? That's my last visit there!

  I had a much better experience than other reviewers. Good quick service, drinkable coffee. But despite the name, it's just another coffee shop in a mall. Nothing here of real interest.

  Was in this morning and the food was excellent. The reason for the 2 stars is the fact that although it is called the cheeky sparrow i really did not expect to see them flying around inside. Unfortunately for one poor bird it hit the windows not once but about 4 times before I, yes me the customer, rescued it and put it outside. The waitress was unconcerned and said that they fly in all the time. May i suggest a screen door leading to the outside area in that case. I am sure this is a Food Save issue with birds flying in and out and leaving bird poop, and blood around! Staff could have done better...yes it was a hot day but go back to getting a screen door to keep the cheeky sparrows out!
