  My son recently relocated from Australia to Wellington, NZ and where three other major banks all told him he would have to wait a week for an interview to open an account, the staff at ASB went over and above to assist him with opening an account, that is what I call customer service.

  This branch is located in Willis Street, close to New World and next door to Unichem but before ANZ. Looks clean and bright. Banking in Godzone requires a ton of patience as you have to cope with teller nattering, tortoise speeding, etc. - no Oz Wizard to pave your way to the Yellow Brick Road.

  There’s always queue. Usually two service assistants but sometimes just one assistant available and three others wondering behind and not willing to help their colleagues. ATM available outside and inside. In-person service can be of long queue. The branch is clean and tidy.

  The bank is good and I appreciate what they do but I do not see the need to be forensically asked about my Kiwisaver and what provider I am using etc.

  Customer service is fine, but there need to be two waiting lines: One for people who want to get things done fast, and one for old biddies yammering on about something that happened back in 1952 on a cruise to Vietnam or wherever.
