::I've taken my cats(Tungsten, now deceased and George) to Maria's Cat Motel for over 18yrs(ever since I moved to Wellington from Auckland)I used to live in Miramar, so It was convenient for me to drop the cat(s) off and now I live in Stokes Valley and I very much still use her service!! I have always had excellent service from Maria and Neil. She is very aware of the cats needs and if for any reason suspects they may be ill or not eating properly, she will take them to the vet, which she has done with my current cat, George (He's picky and sensitive..) on a previous stay. It turned out he was being stubborn and not eating or "protesting" BUT Maria changed the food accordingly and George came around. I have high praise for Maria, as I have never experienced anything untoward from Maria's Cat Motel. Thank you Maria and Neil.

::its Interesting to read the above comment "what makes them different..." we can make sure you'd treasured animal has great care. our 2 cats were left In Maria's care during the July holidays, (2 weeks). we went to Thailand. when we got back to pick the cats up, Jessie was not responding to us, so my son climbed into the cage to pick her up. he made the comment "mum she feels so skinny". I'm fully aware that animals sometimes do loose a bit of weight while their owners are away. I put our other cat into the cage and my son put Jessie into the pet transport cage. once we got home I let the girls out the cage. Jessie could hardly walk she was so weak and disgustingly skinny. I immediately took her to the Vet. she was so badly dehydrated and malnourished. her weight prior to our holiday was a steady 4kgs, the vet weighed her and she was only 1.9kg! she was also very pale. immediately the vet put her on a drip and medication and she remained in their care and on a drip for the next 6 days. its unfortunate that Jessie started to get unwell while we were away, however Maria failed to look after Jessie properly and seek veterinary care. we paid Maria (she wanted cash) over $500 to take care of our animals, but this did not happen. had we been away another week, Jessie would have died. I feel sick to my stomach even thinking about it and my heart breaks to think what was going through my cats mind each day wondering why she was left to suffer. fortunately Jessie pulled through and is home with us. a lot of damage was done because Maria did not seek urgent veterinary care, so we take it day by day with Jessie. Shame on you Maria!
